RI-Mexican Foreign Minister Discuss Cooperation Realization

JAKARTA - Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa to visit Indonesia, taking the time to conduct bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa in Jakarta today.
The two officials discussed cooperation in all areas which have previously been approved by both governments.
In the discussion of bilateral cooperation, Foreign Minister Espinosa requests are more focused to the previous agreements that have been agreed during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono visited Mexico, in 2008 ago.

"My visit today is a follow-up of the deal, approved by President Yudhoyono in the year 2008. At that President Yudhoyono has signed four memorandums of cooperation with President Felipe Calderon," Foreign Minister Espinosa said in a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa in Gedung Pancasila, Jakarta , Thursday (07/08/2010).

"We also discussed the agreements that have been produced in the Bali Action Plan, during the UN climate conference some time ago. Also do not miss all the discussion of cooperation agreed upon by President Yudhoyono in 2008 and then in Mexico," added Foreign Minister Espinosa.

Such as Indonesia and Mexico are known to have signed memorandums of cooperation on several fronts in the year 2008. Such cooperation, among others, touched the field of trade and investment promotion, energy, agriculture and diplomatic training.

Both countries agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, especially to increase trade volume. Though experiencing decreased in 2009, Indonesia-Mexico trade volume in 2010 increased by 14.8 percent.

While in the field of investment, Indonesia and Mexico are currently negotiating the draft Agreement of Investment Promotion and Protection. Negotiations on this issue is expected to be completed in the near future.

While training for diplomatic cooperation which was included in the memorandum of cooperation that has been signed in 2008 then President SBY, Indonesia and Mexico discuss cooperation such as exchange of educational programs and training to the diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Training Center of both countries.

To further enhance the cooperation of both parties, the two foreign ministers agreed to designate a senior-level officials from both countries to hold the 4th meeting of the Bilateral Consultation Forum in Mexico this year.
In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Espinosa will have a meeting with the Chief Executive of the National Council on Climate Change (DNPI) and Minister of Industry and entrepreneurs from various industries, today.
