
BEIJING - Four landslides triggered by heavy rains in China, caused the fall of casualties. The death toll from the disaster that occurred on Tuesday, July 13, the current increased to reach 37 people and approximately 40 people are reported missing.
Avalanches of mud mixed with the soil which is sweeping the villages in Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces, and in central Hunan Province earlier this week.
The areas worst affected in the village of Qiaojia, Yunnan Province, where 13 people reportedly were killed while 32 others were reported missing. Not to mention 43 other people reportedly suffered injuries.
Citizen housing conditions seemed not much different, considering that most houses seem apart from its foundations and suffered extensive damage.
Own rescue team is starting to move towards the disaster area. They are equipped with tents, blankets, clean clothes and bring the rice to be consumed by the victims of landslides. Thus disitat from Xinhua, Wednesday (07/14/2010).
While two other landslides also hit Sichuan Province. This disaster led to 14 people were killed and another was reportedly still missing. Meanwhile, in Hunan province, ten people are confirmed dead and five others were lost due to landslides that occurred in the region.
Heavy rain falling in parts of central and eastern China, have fueled the increase in the volume of water in the Yangtze River. China National Meteorological Agency, continues to maintain the risk of storm warnings in the land of the Bamboo Curtain, as well as predict the rainfall will continue to grow in the central and eastern China.
